LUST HAVE TREND : CAPED CRUSADER

Is there perhaps a hidden and unspoken superhero aspiration in all of us, that haS fashion's elite turning to capes every few seasons? I like to think so!
Its a bold look to try right now, but think sleek, sexy and powerful...hone that caped crusader within because this trend isn't about hiding (although it does offer good camouflage), and remember to keep things proportioned, try it with slim pants, skinny jeans, tights or a pencil skirt to balance the volume.
PS keep an eye out for an extension of this trend in the shape of the Box silhouette and batwing sleeve.

PHOTO OF THE DAY : CHRISTIAN DIOR FALL 2011

Im sure expectations were high for the latest showing from Dior; fast on the heels of the scandal surrounding dismissed designer Galliano. CEO Sidney Toledano, apparently opened the show with a speech trying to quell any doubts of the houses future and remind all of their upstanding values.
My pick for look of the day is for its fresh yet classic appeal and especially for that 'wonder-of-construction' coat... and my favourite touch of the show? was the final bow taken by the true crafts people behind the label....bravo!

2011 OSCARS FASHION

If you were at the Oscars on Monday and weren't wearing red, purple or something that sparkles then you were in a very small minority! There were a lot of shoulders on show and plenty of bling. Heres some of my most memorable looks (click pics to enlarge)

Anne Hathaway's first look of the night was from Valentino, Jennifer Hudson squeezed her lovely lady lumps into Versace, Jennifer Lawrence went custom made with Calvin Klein and (my pick of the berry bunch) Sandra Bullock rocked in Vera Wang.

Natalie Portman glowed in Rodarte, Scarlett Johansson embraced the lace trend with Dolce & Gabbana, Mila Kunis (my fave lavender lady) looked amazing in Elie Saab and Cate Blanchett once again stole the show in Givenchy Couture.

Halle Berry thankfully got a little more ladylike in Marchesa, Michelle Williams stunned in Oscar de la Renta, Hilary Swank sauntered down the carpet in Gucci Premiere and my pick for most sparkly!) Mandy Moore looked beautiful in Monique L'huillier. (honourable mention to Hayley Steinfeld in Marchesa)

PHOTO OF THE DAY : NATALIA VODIANOVA

Like this shot of Natalia for the Etam Campaign, the background is more than the average solid grey and contrasts really well with the pixel colours.

RUNWAY TOP 6 : MATTHEW WILLIAMSON FALL 2011

Matthew Williamson's signature boho chic aesthetic wasn't missing on this years fall runway, it just bought some tuff luxe friends (and then some). Although not getting rave reviews, I enojoyed the bold mixing of prints, feathers, leather, fabrics, colours and fringes...normally too much for one collection I think he did really well in blending all the elements and maintaing a cohesive look.
Inspired by a Russian artist and Mongolian culture, it was at least a good deal more bright and upbeat than alot of the other showings...and I even liked the shoes and sock look for once, how bout you?

LUST HAVE TRENDS : THROUGH THE ROUND LOOKING GLASS

LUST HAVE MINI TREND : ROUND GLASSES

Is this the next big thing in eyewear? Have the aviators and Raybans been dethroned? More likely just pushed to the side.. also around in 2009, this latest trend was seen on runways and celebrities alike this season. It may make you think of Lennon and Ozzie Ozbourne but perhaps this looks reinvention is another tip of the hat to Lady GaGa's popular influence?

DVF Spring 2011
Unique Spring 2011
Prada Spring 2011

RUNWAY TOP 6 : YEOJIN BAE 2011

Ok - I officially want to either drink whatever fashion cool-aide Yeojin has been drinking or convince her to let me own every piece she ever designed. I absolutely love her style...this is exactly my aesthetic...refined luxury that goes from day to night, a hint of sexy with prints, colours and cuts that are modern and on trend while still being soaked with classism.
This top 6 (while not exactly runway) is from her new collection and is available online here

love the length and fit of this skirt
love this length too
