I WANT IT NOW : UN-KILLABLE CATUS

This porcelain pretty comes from the shelves of Burleigh Heads based homeware importers Vennucci, who are now celebrating their 10th year trading. This un-killable cactus is perhaps the 21st Century's answer to housewarming gifts for your 20 something bachelor friends... Arizona Porcelain Cactus $22

BLOOMIN' TUESDAY : KAFFIR LILLIES

Me and my posts have been M.I.A for the last week because I was lucky enough to have been soaking in the good weather up at Noosa on the Sunshine Coast for my best friend's wedding (some pics to follow). Thought I'd share some Spring blooms with you today in celebration; these bursts of brightness have just suddenly bloomed in my front yard.

EYE CANDY: THAT TEA CUP IS CACTUS

Love this bookshelf from the creative duo at the Rupert&Sherlock Blog (who you might remember I've featured in a couple of handmade posts). I'm all in favour of re-purposing everyday items and I think this would be a pretty gorgeous way of growing herbs or small houseplants.

HANDMADE BUY OF THE DAY : IT HAS A RING TO IT

AdornJewelry has created a small collection of quirky faux moss jewellery of which my fave is this 'Gather, Square Moss Ring' selling for US$25 in their Etsy Store. Certainly something you don't see everyday! (seen via Rupert&Sherlock)

D.I.Y - POTTING HERBS : WEEK FOUR

Well its been one month now since I first potted my herbs, and with all my herby experience (fairly close to zero) I'd say they are doing well! My Basil is growing like a trooper - a fact I hope the other two are noticing. Im still hunting for the perfect spot with full sun throughout the day but Im keeping up with the watering and there aren't any signs of plant death on the horizon so all in all things are looking up! lets just keep our fingers crossed the recent cold weather won't slow them down too much...

EYE CANDY: HERB NOOK

The most Gorgeous herb nook I've ever seen, would love to find a steel trolley like this to emulate the whole thing. I can only dream my little herb garden will ever look this organised! The boyfriend grows Bonsai's and this setup would also work for him... The pic comes from over at the talented sfgirlbybay. She got the idea from an issue of Lonny (pic below)
Happy Friday!

D.I.Y - POTTING HERBS : WEEK TWO

Here are the first two weeks in the baby lives of my herbs. My pots didn't turn out quite as white as I was hoping (should have done another coat of paint!) but otherwise everything is moving along swimmingly! The Basil are the faster growers but I wish it was the Chives; can't wait until they are ready for harvesting! yum yum

D.I.Y - POTTING HERBS

For a couple of years now I have wanted to grow my own herbs but never got around to it. So for my birthday recently when I was given a set of little pots, my herb-craving was re-ignited! Finally this week I went out and got some seed packets and soil from my local hardware store and I'm all ready to go! Pity that the box the pots came in had a photo of white pots and inside were blue pots...never mind; its a good 'ol can of spray paint to the rescue. I taped up the little chalkboard plaques (where you write the herb names) and sprayed away today in the fading afternoon light. Tomorrow is potting time and come 10-14 days I will see the fruits...er herbs...of my labour! Stay tuned...
