I HEART ART : ALBERTO SEVESO

Entitled 'Medicina Rossa' (red) and 'Sequence' (blue) these amazing shots are photographs of ink being poured into a fishbowl and capturing the reaction to water. Created by an Italian artist; Alverto Seveso, who's work has been labeled fantastic and 'mind blowing', I think they have a haunting almost ethereal feel to them don't you? very cool...seen via Trendland

I HEART ART : DANE LOVETT

I saw this painting in a post on The Design Files and immediately fell in love!!
It reminds me of staying up late on school nights to tape my favourite TV Shows (pause/record to chop the ads out)...sigh the good ol' days of VHS; Be kind and rewind.
The artist behind the piece is Brisbanite Dane Lovett, definitely one to keep an eye on!

As seen on The Design Files

I HEART ART : IGOR + ANDRE VIDEO

I have seen Danny Roberts' work around here and there but only just came across his blog Igor + Andre. This video was on there and thought I'd share it because I always love to see how artists work. The music really sets a mood and I love the plate of biscuits that slowly dissapear near the end.
I hear he is illustrating/working on a childrens book with Sophie Ward (Yes Gemma's sister) which I look forward to seeing!
I had the pleasure of meeting Sophie during my uni years while I was dressing her for a David Jones season launch show. She was super lovely and quiet and really seemed to love reading. I remember we spoke about the Harry Potter novel she was reading at the time. Anyway hope you are enjoying your Thursday!

PHOTO OF THE DAY : DEFRAGMENTED BEAUTY

From 25 magazine, this year's "Defragmentation of Beauty" featured some very 'now' models mixed with some great graphic art by Tomek Sadurski. Photographed by Marcin Tyszka it proves to be a great example of fashion meeting art and getting along (Via Fashion Gone Rogue)

I HEART ART : LAURA LAINE

Finnish Fashion Illustrator Laura Laine has been a regular feature on my desktop wallpapers for a couple of years now and I thought, in case you hadn't been exposed to her beautiful work yet (shock horror!), I would share some this morning! Based in Helinksi, she studied Fashion Design before concentrating solely on Illustration and setting herself up as a full-time freelance artist. She has done commissions for places like H+M, Zara, Tommy Hilfiger and Viktor&Rolf. (and I believe she also teaches at a university sometimes)
Her work is always so detailed and shaded beautifully, Id be really interested in learning more about the methods she uses and what inspires her... hope you guys enjoy her work now as much as I do! take a look -

I HEART ART : ARTURO ELENA

Fashion artist Arturo Elena was a big inspiration for me when I was illustrating my final year collection at QUT. His work is so unique and colourful, the way he renders a figure is amazing and I love the obvious signature he has to each drawing. Enjoy!

INSPIRTATION: ARTIST MARTINE EMDUR

I was flipping through an old copy of Harpers Bazaar Australia today and came upon a short story about Sydney born artist Martine Emdur. Her paintings are so evocative and yet soothing, she really captures light and shadows well and I find the water work haunting... Apparently in the flesh the scale of her pieces make an even bigger impact on you, here's hoping she will bring an exhibition to Brisbane. (Crazy fact ; she is alergic to paint! go figure... )
